We are Orla and Paul.  I’m a teacher and Paul is an account executive.  We live in the west Sligo because the sea. We met in Toronto Canada in 2019.

Paul proposed on Clogher strand in Kerry in the summer of 2024. We thought we were the only ones there at the time.  It was a wild windy day and when I said ‘yes’, we heard some clapping from the entrance into the beach. Some lovely Americans happened to capture the moment.

We chose the Newpark because of our experience there at a wedding- the service and food is spectacular. I’m from Kilkenny (Orla) so I wanted to get married here and have a central place that guests could enjoy the beautiful city.

If we had to describe our wedding day in 3 words it we would have to say, fun, relaxed and memorable.

Our favourite moment from the day was entering the venue for our dinner. We had a few quiet moments before to reflect on how the day was going and then to enter the room seeing such happy faces, with all our family and friends excited for the evening ahead- was a truly spectacular moment.

Our guests commended the food, particularly the beef as the Newpark is well known for its quality of beef.  They appreciated the choice and the exceptional service the Newpark offers. When I was looking for a venue, getting the food right was my top priority and the Newpark delivered.

In terms of wedding suppliers, we particularly loved our band, ‘The Electrix’ who went above and beyond for us especially when it came to song suggestions we had.  The guests were so complimentary of the music on the night.

I was very lucky to have such beautiful flowers on the day by Gillian Grant in Thanks a bunch, a very close friend of the family who created the most beautiful classic hand bouquet for me and my maid of honour.

If you are considering the Newpark hotel for your wedding, we highly recommend it for its value for money.  Everything felt so personal and special to us on the day also. We have such amazing memories of the days of our wedding and even our tasting, which was a wonderful experience.  We can’t thank the staff enough, especially Mary and her team. So, if you’re thinking of this venue – go for it! It will exceed your expectations.
